Now Christmas is over and presents have been opened, I can share a few of my makes with you!
This is a favourite of mine.I love the combination of materials which makes this tactile cushion. It has been placed on a deep red settee which really sets off the red stripes on the stags.
I just love it! I need to make my self one the same i think!

 Brussel Sprout Picking

Growing up in the countryside and with living on farms as a child, my family were pretty self sufficient .

We always had an enormous vegetable patch which my parents would tend to constantly all year round as well as often having fruit from our orchards, fruit bushes and any planters big enough to grow a good crop of vegetables or fruit. So crop picking was a fun and important activity.

Not owning a big enough garden my self to provide my family with such a variety of home grown foods, we are pretty limited to what we can grow at home. Luckily my parents do still have a huge vegetable patch which is where we found these beauties!

Not only had my daughters not seen brussell sprouts growing properly as i would say- but they had certainly not picked them by hand. Im afraid my vegetable growing is restricted to spindly runner beans and the odd tomato !

It made a fun activity and they learnt a lot . Skills such as how to pick the sprouts properly without them falling apart or dropping them. Then taking them indoors to wash them and preparing them for lunch.

I am constantly appreciative of where we live and the access that my family have to this sort of life style which I never want my children to take for granted .

Nappy Clutch,
so this week i have been testing the Nappy Clutch that i made from tweed and suede at the weekend,
As a mummy to two little girls aged 1 and 3, i have a very well stocked changing bag!
As my girls are getting older i am using less and less from the bag and actually find my self thinking 'Why did I even bring this?'
So the Nappy Clutch was born!
It holds one full pack of wet wipes and two nappies which is plenty for popping to the shops or playgroup. I have actually preferred using this than the whole bag , it sits neatly in the hood of my stroller so its not weighing down the back of the seat. It has also been handy in the house just having this out and being able to put my big changing bag in the porch out of the way.
Plus it can double up as a clutch for me when i pop out as it does not look typically baby related!
What do you think?

Countryside Childhood
A huge part of growing up in the countryside is the attire.
to quote Billy Connolly ' There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing. and it couldnt be more true.
Wellies in particular are a personal favourite of mine, i choose them over regular shoes on most occasions.
This has now rubbed off onto my eldest daughter who will also chose her pretty patterned wellies ( a large selection ) over her trainers or pretty shoes!
My local pub actually has a whole basket of wellies especially for the little ones to play in the garden in and i couldnt resist taking a photo while i was there. Its a ' mucky dogs and mucky boots' welcoming sort of country pub which i love.
It has inspired me to design a wellington boot themed cushion design so keep an eye on this page for the new design!

 Foxes Foxes Foxes
This month I have been making cushion covers to the theme of 'Foxes'.
The inspiration came from a particular fox that I see regularly on my drive to a nearby village .She appears in the hedgerow and roadside near a large wooded area with a little lay by most evenings obviously hunting for food . Last summer I saw her out with a younger fox which I assume to be her cub.

Little Fact:The female cub, tends to stay with her mother for longer to raise any new cubs in the following season. That is pretty cute isnt it !

She inspired me to do this design and the country scenery print material suits the design really well ! I got the materials making the red fox from Wimborne Folk Festival summer 2015 in a little bag of vintage pieces ready for patch working and knew it would be ideal for this project !
